How to Care for a Garage Floor

    • 1). Sweep the garage floor at least once per day with a soft-bristled push broom. Push all dirt and debris into a single pile and remove it with a shop vac or sweep it into a dust pan.

    • 2). Fill a bucket with one gallon of hot water and a one-to-two tbsp. of a floor cleaner. Insert a scrubber mop into the soap solution and thoroughly wash all areas of the garage floor with it.

    • 3). Attach a sprayer head onto a garden hose and walk to the interior back wall of the garage. Spray the floor with the hose directing the soap residue toward any floor drains or to the outside. Continue until the entire floor is rinsed.

    • 4). Walk back to the inside wall of the garage and place a floor squeegee on the floor. Push the squeegee toward any floor drains or the outside of the garage to remove water that has pooled on the floor.

    • 5). Inspect the garage floor for any stains that were not removed, such as tire marks. Fill a bucket with a mixture of 10 parts of water and one part citrus floor cleaner. Soak a scrub brush with the mixture and scrub the garage floor until the stains are gone. Rinse the area with clean water to remove the soap residue.
