How to Make Silk Ribbon Knotted Froufrou

    • 1). Cut four pieces of silk ribbon, one 13 inches long, one 11 inches long, one 9 inches long and one 7 inches long. Fold all the ribbons in half and pin them together by running the safety pin through all four center folds. Unfold the ribbons.

    • 2). Grasp all the ribbon together and tie a 1/12-inch wide bow, holding all four pieces of ribbon together as if they were one ribbon. You will have a bow with four loops on each side and four ribbon tails hanging down on each side. Pull the ribbon loops gently apart to fluff the bow. Remove the safety pin.

    • 3). Trim 1/2 inch off the shortest ribbon tail on the right side. Trim 1/2 inch off the second shortest ribbon tail on the left side. Trim 1/2 inch off the next shortest ribbon tail on the right side and 1/2 inch off the longest tail on the left side. This will make all the ribbon tails different lengths.

    • 4). Tie an overhand knot in each ribbon tail, leaving a 1/2-inch tail of ribbon hanging out of the knot on the end. Make an overhand knot by making a loop in the ribbon and pulling the end of the ribbon through. Trim the tails to 1/4 inch long. Trim them at a 45-degree angle to prevent raveling.

    • 5). Attach the knotted froufrou to the garment with a safety pin on the inside of the garment. Remove the froufrou when the garment is laundered.
