- 1). Separate food scraps from other waste in the kitchen. Place your food scraps, including meat and fish, in the small green kitchen bin. Keep the small green bin lid closed to prevent fly propagation.
- 2). Place food-laden paper packaging in the small kitchen bin, including tea bags. Do not place tetrapak containers, such as juice boxes, in the green bins. These contain non-compostable linings.
- 3). Pour the contents of the small green food waste bin into the large green bin when full.
- 4). Place leaves, grass clippings, bark, sawdust and small garden branches in the large green bin.
- 5). Wheel the large green bin to the curb for pickup on your neighborhood's designated waste pick-up day.
