- Didymium blocks the yellow light commonly emitted by the sodium in molten glass. This can prevent eye damage and improve visual clarity by cutting back the glare emitted by the glass.
- Ultraviolet light is also blocked by didymium. This is commonly emitted by forge gases, and can lead to cumulative damage if eye protection is not worn.
- Didymium enhances vision by reducing the glare caused by yellow light emitted from superheated glass. This allows the glass worker to focus better on the object being created.
- Didymium glasses cover the front of the eye, and act as a barrier for any airborne particles that might irritate or damage an exposed eye. You can use didymium goggles and face masks instead of glasses, providing even more protection.
