Cheltenham Gardeners Landscaping Design Maintain Build
Our Services
Our services are divided into three main areas: Design, Build and Maintain
Design
During an initial consultation the existing and future needs of your project are discussed and the key objectives determined based on your space and budget. Once these needs are established, a full site survey is completed and a sketch design produced. Here clients can choose to develop the sketch design into full construction details if desired.
Build
Once a design has been accepted, the drawings are handed over to the George-Stone Landscaping Team who construct your garden carefully down to the smallest details - bringing your design to life. We remain on site until the job is completed ensuring there is minimal disruption to your routine and we always tidy up at the end of each day.
Maintain
Upon completion of your new garden, our experts can provide you with an annual maintenance plan detailing time plans for new planting, pruning and lawn care and an allocated gardener to implement the program if required.
Case Study 1
The clients had moved into this property in Cheltenham a few months previously and wanted to make it child-friendly as quickly as possible. Our first jobs were to dismantle the pond, remove the broken patio and clear the overgrown vegetation at the far end of the garden as well as some badly placed trees and relocate a large shed.
For this design the requirements were to have a large enough patio in front of the house for entertaining in the summer, a generous amount of lawn for the children to play on, room to grow their own vegetables and a second seating area at the far end of the garden which catches the afternoon sun.
Incorporating all of this we installed a patio using a lovely limestone in various shades of buff which lends itself beautifully to the surrounding Cotswolds. In keeping with this theme we added a raised circular dry stone walled bed for herbs and flowers close to the house using Cotswold stone from a local quarry.
Continuing this theme we used more dry stone walling to edge the upper seating area and to create stepped beds on the natural incline at the back of the garden. During the initial excavation of the site we found some very old Painswick Stone paving slabs which we cleaned up and used along with stone chippings to create the second seating area.
We also used buried bricks we had excavated to create a composting area behind the shed as the surrounding earth needed to be stabilised and retained. We built a retaining wall along the side of the upper seating area to hold the patio in place and replaced the broken fence with new closeboard panels.
For the vegetable garden we used reclaimed railway sleepers cut into an existing slope to make the best use of this previous dead space. Linking this all together we installed festival grade turf running flush with the patio to remove any danger of the children tripping and giving them a generous playing area too. An apple and a cherry tree were planted to frame the garden ahead of the rest of the planting to follow in the spring.
