How to Polish the Edges of Glass
- 1). Rub an unwanted piece of glass against the edge. This will not chip the glass, and it will remove the largest pieces from the edge.
- 2). Use grozing pliers to remove small chips from the edge of the glass. These pliers have serrated jaws that can easily snip off the unwanted pieces.
- 3). Smooth the edges with a carborundum stone or a diamond smoothing pad. The stone works more effectively on finer grades, and the pad works more effectively on the coarser grades. Diamond smoothing pads must be dipped in water before using. Both of these can be used more or less aggressively, and can often leave a polished finish on the edge of the glass.
- 4). Many people use glass grinders to smooth the edges of a piece of glass. Move the bit along the edge of the glass to polish it.
