Watering Tips For Your Garden Plot

Watering your garden is very important.
It is one of the single most important things that you must do for your plants.
Without water your plants may die or may produce fruits and vegetables that are small, deformed, or unhealthy.
Watering is a very crucial gardening task and utmost care must be taken when doing it.
Lack of water and dehydration is one of the mains causes of plants dying.
You must be careful when watering your plants you do not want to over water them and at the same time you do not want to under water them.
If you have to get it just right and make sure that they have enough water.
Shrubs, bushes, and trees normally require about two years to become fully established and during this period they will require additional watering.
This is usually the case if the raining season was not very good and less then an inch of rain would have fallen on them each week.
In order to ensure that plants are getting an adequate amount of water there are some rules and guidelines you can stick to.
Firstly for seedlings, new plants, trees, bushes, and shrubs you should water them rather deeply and you must make sure that the whole root ball area is soaked.
This should be done at least once a week especially during the cooler months and the cooler season.
During the hotter months and the hot season you should ensure the root ball area is soaked three times week.
During a period where the is no rain such as a drought, plants, trees, shrubs, and bushes that are very mature, and established may require some form of supplement watering.
Likewise perennials and annual plants will definitely need watering more often especially during the very warm and hot to dry periods as well as the windy period.
Another very important thing you must remember and take into consideration is that most plants regardless of age or size will not be able to manage or tolerate a water logged soil.
Plants, trees, bushes, and shrubs cannot withstand soil which is constantly saturated.
So you must be careful and make sure that you do not over do the whole watering thing or you will be presenting serious problems for your plants and yourself.
Plants which are kept and grown in containers must be carefully watched and monitored everyday.
The best way to water such plants is by watering the plant thoroughly and then waiting until the entire container is completely dry before you water it again.
If you happen to notice that the plant is shedding its leaves and is wilting this only means that you are waiting too long before watering it again.
You must reduce the period between the watering sessions or the plant may die or it may not grow to its full potential.
Another very important thing that one must consider when it comes to watering the size of the plot and the size of container do play a significant role in the watering process.
Obviously a bigger plot or pot requires more water then a smaller plot or pot.
The plot and pot size will also determine just how often you must water the plants.
The nature and type of your soil and the nature and type of the plant will help you determine its watering needs.
No two plants have the same watering needs; it varies from plant to plant.
Other factors that come into play are things like evapotranspiration.
