The Best Way to Get Furniture Marks Out of Carpet

    Ice Cubes

    • 1). Place an ice cube in each furniture dent and allow it to melt. This will take several hours and can be done overnight. Once the ice has melted completely, much of the carpet will have risen on its own.

    • 2). Blot up any excess water with paper towels.

    • 3). Pull up any pieces of carpet that are still indented, using a fork. If the carpet dents are severe, you may have to repeat the process a few times.

    Iron

    • 1). Plug your iron in near the carpet dents and set it to a medium heat.

    • 2). Place a damp, cotton cloth over a dent in the carpet.

    • 3). Hold the hot iron 2 to 3 inches over the damp cloth, being careful not to let the iron touch the cloth or the carpet. Hold the iron in place for 30 to 60 seconds.

    • 4). Remove the iron and the damp cloth. Much of the carpet dent should have repaired itself from the heat and steam of the iron.

    • 5). Rub a coin or spoon edge over and places on the carpet that have risen back up.

    • 6). Repeat the process if any dents remain.
