How to Disassemble the Carburetor on a 15.5 Horsepower Briggs & Stratton Engine

    • 1). Power off your mower. Locate the Briggs & Stratton engine muffler at the lower left of the engine assembly. Remove the two bolts on it using a socket wrench.

    • 2). Remove the dipstick from the engine.

    • 3). Take out the gas tank's three bolts with the socket wrench. Remove the loosened gas tank.

    • 4). Remove the screws from the engine's carburetor intake. These screws support the intake in its position on the Briggs & Stratton engine block.

    • 5). Slide the two throttle linkage rods from the Briggs & Stratton engine block. Find the air filter on the back side of the carburetor. Twist it to remove it.

    • 6). Remove the two bolts from the engine's carburetor intake with the socket wrench. This will free up the intake from the rest of the carburetor and loosen each from the Briggs & Stratton engine block.

    • 7). Set the carburetor aside.
