Because there are so many video formats today, it is often difficult to work across multiple platforms or convert older formats to newer formats without losing quality. Fortunately, you can add a variety of video connectors to your PC that will allow you to upload almost any video format onto your computer. - RF is the oldest video transmission format and is used with VCRs, TVs and cable and antenna transmissions. To record a TV show onto your computer, add a video card with an RF connector that will allow you to transfer the video signals.
- You can also add a composite video card to your PC that allows you to connect the video signal from a VCR or other composite video device. You can connect composite video to your computer using a red, white, and yellow RCA cable. The yellow part of the cable is the composite connector.
- You can add S-video connectors by adding a video card with an S-video connector on it. S-video has a higher quality video signal than composite because it sends a black and white video signal mixed with a color video signal. This double signal keeps the quality of the video intact better than composite video, which cmbines everything into one signal.
- VGA stands for video graphics adaptor. VGA connectors are very common and usually come standard on most PCs. You can use VGA connections to connect your computer to projectors or other external monitors.
