How to Wash My Windows With a Squeegee
- 1). Select either a brass or stainless steel professional-style squeegee with a longer extension handle, good quality rubber blade and a scrub pad attached.
- 2). Mix two tablespoons of ammonia or white vinegar with two quarts or warm water in a bucket. Alternately, use a high-quality commercial window-cleaning solution.
- 3). Gently wipe dirty windows with a damp clean cloth to remove surface dirt and loosen more stubborn dirt. Don’t rub hard because grit can scratch the window.
- 4). Use a clean sponge or cloth to wet the window with the window-washer solution without soaking the window.
- 5). Place one end of the blade against the side of the window and the length of the blade flush against the top of the window frame. Tilt the blade at a 45-degree angle and draw it smoothly down to the bottom of the window frame, keeping pressed evenly against the glass.
- 6). Wipe the squeegee blade clean with a damp cloth, place the blade flush against the top of the window frame overlapping the area you just cleaned by about 2 inches and draw it down again. The overlapping of the squeegee will avoid leaving streaks on the glass.
- 7). Continue the same process until the window is clean. Use a clean, absorbent cloth to remove any excess water on the sides or bottom of the glass.
