How to Install a CD Player in a 1993 Honda Civic

    • 1). Lift the hood of your Civic and disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative battery terminal. Use a 10 mm wrench to loosen the cable's bolt and move the cable away from the battery terminal.

    • 2). Remove the four screws on the lower center dash panel with a Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the panel from the dashboard.

    • 3). Remove the two screws at the bottom of the stereo bracket. The screws are accessed through the lower panel (already removed) and can be removed with the Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 4). Pull the stereo from the Civic's stereo mounting dock. Disconnect the stereo wiring from the rear panel of the factory unit. The wiring groups are linked together by a plastic wire connector. Unplug the connector from the stereo outlets. Unplug the black antenna cable connected to the outlet on the right side of the radio's back panel.

    • 5). Place the CD player's installation collar into the empty stereo dock. Fold down the metal tabs inside the installation collar with the screwdriver. The tabs will secure the collar into the dock.

    • 6). Pull the Honda's stereo wiring from the back of the stereo dock and plug the connectors into the corresponding leads of the wiring harness adapter.

    • 7). Plug the wiring harness adapter leads and antenna cable into the appropriate outlets on the rear panel of the new CD player. Consult the harness manual for instructions on the wiring harness adapter connection locations.

    • 8). Slide the new deck into the installation collar until it snaps into place.

    • 9). Replace the lower dash panel and the four screws that secure it to the dashboard.
