How to Program the Keyless Entry in a 1997 GMC 3500

- 1). Locate the Data Link Connector underneath the dashboard on the driver's side of your 1997 GMC Sierra 3500.
- 2). Examine the Data Link Connector to locate the "4" and "8" metal contact pins. Consult the Data Link Connector diagram (see Resources) for more information.
- 3). Connect the "4" and "8" metal contact pins with the jumper wire. Leave the "4" and "8" metal contact pins connected until the keyless entry programming process is complete. Note that the vehicle's power locks will automatically perform one locking and unlocking cycle if the pins have been connected successfully.
- 4). Hold down the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the GMC keyless entry remote for 15 to 20 seconds. Release the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons after the vehicle cycles through another automatic locking and unlocking cycle.
- 5). Remove the jumper wire after you have finished programming the keyless entry remote to your 1997 GMC Sierra 3500.
