How to Store a Truck Camper in Winter

1). Clean the interior and exterior of the truck camper. Perform your normal maintenance routine and repair any problems you see. Winterize water systems, check battery levels, and secure windows and doors.
2). Choose a spot in your yard that is level and free of overhanging limbs. Storing the truck camper in an open area prevents the dangers that accompany falling limbs and trees. Alternatively, you can plan to store your truck camper under a carport or in the garage.
3). Back the truck into the designated storage area. Let down the camper jacks using the built-in hydraulic or manual mechanism. Raise the truck camper six inches above the bed of the truck. Pull the truck forward and away from the truck camper.
4). Lay two four-by-four posts on the ground. Position one at the front of the camper and one at the rear. Place other posts under the camper at two-foot intervals. You may choose to raise this height depending upon materials. Wooden pallets and other scraps can be used to make a supporting frame for the camper to sit on.
5). Lower the truck camper onto the supporting frame. A supporting frame for the truck camper prevents damage that can occur from high winds, snowdrifts and freeze-thaw cycles. Place a tarp over the camper and secure it.
