How to Remove the Top of the Dryer

    • 1). Unplug the dryer. Failing to do so could result in electrical shock, injury or death.

    • 2). Remove the lint screen from the lint filter. You will find this on the top right hand side of your dryer. Once you remove the screen, you will see two screws that hold in the casing. Remove the screws and set them aside.

    • 3). Wrap a putty knife in masking tape--to avoid scartches on the machine that may result from the knife-- or use a flat object to insert into the gap between the top and front panel of your dryer.

    • 4). Move the putty knife to the right of the dryer. You will run into a spring clip. Push back on the clip with the putty knife to release the clip. Now, move the putty knife to the left and push back on the clip to release the left clip.

    • 5). Lift the top panel up. Some washers will have hinges on the back which the top panel can rest on. On some, you will have to remove the panel completely.
