Directions for Tootsie Pop Spiders
- 1). Purchase as many Tootsie Pops as you need for the amount of spiders you're planning to make. If you're making the spiders as party favors, you'll likely want to have at least one for each guest at your party. Chocolate Tootsie Pops with brown wrappers are most commonly used to make these spiders, but you can make yours with any flavor you like.
- 2). Wrap four black pipe cleaners around the Tootsie Pop stick. Each pipe cleaner will create two legs, one on each side of the spider. Place the middle of each pipe cleaner over the stick at the base of the wrapper and wrap each end of the pipe cleaner around the stick until it's pointing in the opposite direction from where it started.
- 3). Bend each pipe cleaner leg at its midpoint, which will make them look more like real spider legs. If you choose, you also can bend them again toward the ends to make small feet.
- 4). Glue plastic googly eyes onto each spider. These eyes can be purchased from any craft store. Dab a small amount of a nontoxic craft glue such as Elmer's onto the back of each eye and place them on the area where the four pipe cleaners are wrapped around the Tootsie Pop stick. You'll want to glue two eyes onto each spider. If you would rather use a different method, white puffy paint also can be used to make the spider's eyes. Allow the glue or paint to dry completely before touching the eyes or giving the spiders as treats or party favors.
