How to Remove Mold from Wood Trim

    • 1). Put on safety goggles, respirator and gloves before removing any mold. This prevents allergy problems or other health risks during the removal of mold. Though toxic molds are fairly rare when compared to non-toxic molds, there is a risk of black molds that are toxic.

    • 2). Use a sponge or wash cloth with cleaner and water to remove the worst of the mold. Use some elbow grease and don’t be afraid to scrub the wood vigorously. A sponge or wash cloth will not damage the wood during cleaning. The best cleaners for mold removal are bleach or ammonia, though other strong cleaners can be used as preferred.

    • 3). Use the scrub brush, cleaner and water to scrub the wood. Scrub gently with the scrub brush to avoid damaging the wood. Make sure to get into all of the smallest corners and grains of the wood to prevent further mold.

    • 4). Dry the wood well. Prevention is the key to avoiding another cleanup project, so make sure the wooden trim is well dried.
