- To keep your cedar deck looking new, stain it as soon after it is installed as possible. Once a deck is installed, it is exposed to elements that will cause the deck to become faded and worn. Staining will significantly help to protect your deck from the elements.
- The best day for staining your deck is warm, dry and overcast. Direct sunlight can cause stain to dry unevenly, but an overcast day will allow the stain to dry evenly. The ideal temperature for staining a deck is between 50 and 90 degrees.
- To keep your deck attractive, stain it every one to two years. The frequency with which you stain your deck will depend on how much damage there is from rain, snow and sun in your area.
