Home & Garden Swimming Pools & Water Fountains & Ponds

Inground Pool Cleaning Instructions

    • 1). Remove all objects from the pool, making sure no toys are left floating on the water or sitting at the bottom.

    • 2). Wash down all outside walls inside the pool with a hose to push any debris into the water. Use a leaf skimmer to remove the leaves and other debris that is floating on the top of the water. Remove as much debris as possible. Put all of the debris into a trash can or trash bag so it will not blow back into the water with the next wind.

    • 3). Use a pool vacuum to suction up any debris on the steps, walls and bottom of the pool.

    • 4). Empty the strainer baskets into a trash can or trash bag and cleanse all debris from them.

    • 5). Use a wall and floor brush to scrub the walls and floor of vinyl, fiberglass and painted pools. Use an algae brush if you have a concrete pool. Stainless-steel bristles are up to the challenge of cleaning plaster walls, according to the Home Tips website.

    • 6). Use a hand-held tile brush to remove calcium scale and debris from decorative tile. Use a pumice stone on troublesome areas.

    • 7). Check your pool equipment filter and heater for dirt and debris. Clean them and remove debris that has collected.

    • 8). Clean the water with your preferred sanitizer, whether it be chlorine or bromine based compounds. Make sure the water has an appropriate pH level and, if necessary, shock the pool.

    • 9). Make sure your pool pump is functioning properly. The pool pump should run for 10 hours a day, possibly more if you have trouble keeping the sanitizer level high enough, according to The Fun Place website.
