Although Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba and the largest urban area within the Canadian province, outdoor enthusiasts can find a number of public and privately owned, seasonally-operated RV park campgrounds without leaving the city limits. The city is home to Winnipeg's leading attractions like Assiniboine Park Zoo, Fort Gibraltar, Maison du Bourgeois and the Western Canada Aviation Museum. - Open from mid-April to October, Traveller's RV Resort is a private campground located southeast of downtown Winnipeg near the neighborhood of Deacon's Corner. The park consists of 264 gravel campsites, of which around 100 feature a pull-through design. The largest spaces can accommodate vehicles up to 70 feet. All of the sites offer full hookups (30/50 amps). Wireless Internet is accessible at the campsites nearest the office. Restrooms, showers, a sewage dump, public telephones and laundry facilities are provided. A small on-site store sells snacks, basic groceries, firewood and RV supplies. For recreation, the park offers shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, an enclosed game-room and a playground for children. Major credit cares are accepted. Reservations are recommended.

travellersresort.com - Operated by the province of Manitoba, Birds Hill Provincial Park is a public recreational vehicle campground open from mid-May through mid-October. In addition to the park's more than 250 sites for tent-camping, 219 recreational vehicle sites exist. Of these spots, 70 offer pull-through parking, and all range from 55 to 60 feet in length. Forty-five sites have a full hookups (15/30 amps) with the remainder of the spots featuring only electrical connections. Amenities include restrooms, showers, a waste dump, laundry facilities and a store that sells groceries and firewood. Kingfisher Lake is adjacent to the RV park. Other recreational facilities are found at the park, such as hiking and nature trails, a playground, cycling paths, a horseback-riding area, tennis courts and volleyball nets. The province imposes a 21-day limit on all stays at the park.

The small campground has only 20 sites, all of which have full hookups (15/30 amps). The layout of the campground allows for back-in parking only. Showers, restrooms and laundry facilities are provided. The campground permits tent-camping at some of its spots. Pets are welcome at the RV park. Major credit cards are accepted. Reservations are accepted, but walk-ins are welcome.
