How to Clean Mold Spores Out of a House

    • 1). Protect yourself from touching or inhaling toxic mold or mold spores. Put on a face mask, protective eye goggles and rubber gloves.

    • 2). Mist any moldy areas with water before cleaning, because if the mold is too dry, the mold spores can become airborne during the cleaning process.

    • 3). Clean any surface mold in your home by mixing 1 cup of bleach with 4 cups of water in a large bucket. Dip a nylon brush in the cleaning solution, and scrub moldy surfaces until the mold is completely removed. Rinse the area with a clean damp cloth. Remove protective wear.

    • 4). Sanitize with white distilled vinegar. Pour undiluted white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle and spray moldy susceptible areas of your home every few days. Let it sit for several minutes and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Vinegar is a natural and environmentally safe fungicide.

    • 5). Use a mold air purifier to remove mold spores. An air purifier is a device that can reduce the spread of mold by filtering out mold spores. Air purifiers with HEPA (high efficiency particulate arresting) filters are most effective at removing mold spores. Place the air purifier in the corner of any room of your home. Clean or replace your filter often to ensure only the smallest of airborne particles reach your HEPA filter.

    • 6). Control the moisture in your home to prevent mold from forming. Install exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathrooms. Open up windows often to circulate fresh air into your home and reduce humidity. Fix any leaky pipes or faucets, and insulate windows, doors and pipes to avoid condensation.
