DIY Craft Projects With Door Knobs

    Door Knob Sculptures

    • 1). Glue several blocks of wood together with the wood glue so there are surfaces at different heights. This is the base of your sculpture. Let the glue dry completely.

    • 2). Use the paint brush to coat the sculpture base with a wood stain or varnish. This will give it a finished look. Let the stain dry completely. If you want a darker stain, add a second coat and allow it to dry completely.

    • 3). Squeeze a narrow line of epoxy putty on the base of the door knob. Immediately press the door knob against one of the sculpture base surfaces to glue it to the base. Use a toothpick to remove excess epoxy putty from the outside of the door knob before it dries. Repeat this for each of the door knobs. Let the epoxy dry completely.

    Door Knob Wall Art

    • 1). Rub the sandpaper in one direction repeatedly across the edges of your 8-by-10 inch piece of wood until it's smooth. This will prevent splintering. Spray paint the 8-by-10-by-2 inch piece of wood in the color of your choice. The spray paint will ensure the paint is coated evenly on the wood. Let it dry completely. If you use a light color of paint, add a second coat.

    • 2). Squeeze a line of epoxy putty around the bottom edge of one of the door knobs. Press the door knob firmly against the wood to adhere it to the base. Scrape any excess epoxy putty from the base of the door knob with a toothpick before it dries. Repeat this for each of the door knobs you use. Arrange them in a way that is pleasing to you. Let the epoxy putty dry completely.

    • 3). Screw the screw eyes into the back of the wood with your pliers. They should be one-third to halfway down from the top of the wood.

    • 4). Thread one end of the picture wire through the left screw eye. Twist the end of the wire back around the screw eye and two or three inches of the wire. Twist the end of the wire around itself. Repeat this with the other end of the picture wire and the right screw eye.
