Select one room or area to be the designated smoking area. Open windows whenever someone is smoking to keep fresh air circulating. If possible, situate the smoking area close to an open window.

    • 3). Keep a clean cloth and spray bottle full of white vinegar handy in the room designated for smoking. Immediately after smoking, spray the cloth to dampen it with the vinegar and wave the cloth around the room. Vinegar neutralizes the smell of smoke and freshens the room.

Provide longer-lasting air freshening by placing a couple cotton balls dampened with vanilla extract in the room. Vanilla naturally absorbs odor and leaves a pleasant scent in place of the cigarette smoke smell.
