How to Build Rock Walkways

    • 1). Mark the outline of the path with spray paint. It doesn't need to be two straight lines, so be creative with the design.

    • 2). Dig down and remove 6 inches of the topsoil with a shovel along the entire path.

    • 3). Lay 4 inches of fine crushable stone along the path and compact flat with the tamper. The more tampering you do the more stable the ground under the path will be.

    • 4). Lay the stones along the path in the desired shape. If you need to remove a little of the base to get the stones to lay flat, do so with the shovel or your hand.

    • 5). Pour pea stone gravel between the rocks and level them with a rake.
