How to Restore a Missing Registry

    • 1). Insert the Windows DVD into the drive and reboot the computer. Press the "Spacebar" when the prompt asks you if you want to boot to the DVD. This boots to the DVD.

    • 2). Choose your language settings and your time zone. Click "Next." Click "Repair Your Computer" to open the Recovery Console. Click "Next" on the first window.

    • 3). Click "Startup Repair." The Recovery Console scans your computer, detects the missing registry files and restores the files.

    • 4). Remove the DVD from the drive and reboot the computer.
