What Is the Difference Between 32 Bit & 64 Bit on Windows XP?

- Some modern computers are supplied with 64-bit processors. These processors can handle more data simultaneously and access more memory (RAM) than their 32-bit predecessors.
- Although a 64-bit computer can technically operate significantly faster than a 32-bit computer, the application programs used need to be able to take advantage of the extra power. Some programs are not coded with 64-bit processors in mind.
- If you have a 64-bit processor in your computer and plan to use a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows XP, you should check that your programs and the drivers for your hardware devices are fully compatible. There are known compatibility issues with some hardware and software.
