How to Change Malware Protection in Vista
- 1). Click "Start," "Control Panel," "Security" and "Security Center." The Windows Vista Security Center opens.
- 2). Click "Windows Defender" in the left pane of the Security Center window.
- 3). Click "Tools" and "Options." You can now turn on or off various options by checking or unchecking the box next to each option. For example, you can check the box next to "Automatic Scanning" to turn on automatic scans. When you are done, click "Save."
- 4). Click "Windows Firewall" in the left pane of the Security Center window.
- 5). Click "Change Settings," "Continue" and the "General" tab. You can now check "On" or "Off," depending on whether you want the Windows firewall on or off. When you are done, click "Save." Note that Windows Firewall helps block unwanted programs, such as malware, from affecting your computer.
