How to Create a Boot Disc for Windows XP

    • 1). Download a free disc image, if you do not have one already. See Resources for few decent bootable disc images.

    • 2). Download and install a disc-image burning application, if you do not already have one. Nero, IMGBurn, ISO Recorder, MagicISO and InfraRecorder are a few disc-image burning applications available for Windows XP.

    • 3). Launch the burning application. Select "File > Burn Disc Image." Open the disc image. The exact wording and location of the disc-image option will vary between applications; be sure to refer to the user guide.

    • 4). Click "Write/Burn" and adjust your settings as necessary. Select your CD/DVD-RW drive, setting the burning speed. Click "Write/Burn" again to start the process. When it is complete, you have a bootable CD/DVD for Windows XP.
