- 1). Move the appliance outdoors. If this is not possible, unplug it and make sure the area is well-ventilated before you begin painting.
- 2). Clean the appliance with soap and water. White vinegar can be used to remove sticky residue.
- 3). Cover areas of the appliance that you do not want to paint with painter's tape, plastic or newspaper.
- 4). Sand the appliance with 120-grit sandpaper so the new paint will adhere to your appliance.
- 5). Clean the appliance again to remove the debris from sanding. Let the appliance dry thoroughly before applying the paint.
- 6). Apply one coat of appliance paint per the manufacturer's instructions. Let the paint dry and add a second coat, if necessary.
- 7). Remove the painter's tape/plastic/newspaper from the appliance after the appliance paint has completely dried, then move your repainted appliance back into place.
