How to Go From Vista to Windows 7

    • 1). Insert the Windows installation DVD in your computer's drive. A window automatically opens, asking if you want to install or view the content on the CD.

    • 2). Click "Run setup.exe" in the opened dialog window. This option starts the installation and upgrade to Windows 7. In the opened Windows 7 splash screen, click "Install Now" to start the wizard.

    • 3). Leave the selected default option to "Go online to get the latest updates" and click "Next." This option ensures that the installation has the latest bug fixes and security updates for Windows, so you receive a full installation without experiencing any known bugs with Windows 7.

    • 4). Check the box labeled "I accept the license terms" at the bottom of the window and click "Next." Click the "Upgrade" option in the next window. This instructs the installation wizard to only upgrade files, save your preferences and ensures that no important documents are overwritten. It is also the quickest option.

    • 5). Click "Install" on the final upgrade window. Windows searches the hard drive for any compatibility issues and installs the software.
