How to Reset IRQ

    • 1). Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Click "System and Security," then the "Device Manager" link under the "System" header.

    • 2). Click the name of the device Windows reports as conflicting with another installed device or the one causing "IRQ or Resource" errors. Right-click the device name; then click "Properties."

    • 3). Click the "Resources" tab in the device's "Properties" window. Scroll down to the "IRQ" value in the list, and highlight it.

    • 4). Click the check box next to the "Use Automatic Settings" label to remove the check mark. Click the "Change Setting" button.

    • 5). Select a new IRQ number from the list that shows as not conflicting with another device in the system. Highlight the IRQ number, then click "OK." If the IRQ number conflicts with another installed device, Windows lists the device currently using the resource.

    • 6). Click "OK" to close the "Properties" window. Close "Device Manager"; then restart the computer. The device should now work if there are no other problems with it.
