- 1). Read the label on the bacon package for instructions on dealing with mold. Dry cured bacon may instruct you to use a stiff wire brush to remove mold.
- 2). Wear clean plastic gloves when handling dry cured bacon and then place the bacon on a clean cutting board.
- 3). Use a stiff wire brush to remove any instances of mold on the bacon, which typically appears in a green color.
- 4). Place the bacon in a bowl of warm water to remove the salt. Don't soak the bacon if the packaging instructions require you to not remove the salt.
- 5). Remove and immediately through away any bacon products that are not dry cured. Wrap the bacon in plastic and discard it into a trash receptacle that is out of reach from children and animals.
- 6). Use a cleaning disinfectant spray and paper towels to clean the area in the refrigerator where the moldy bacon was located.
