How to Tint House Paint
- 1). Lay out the drop cloth. Tinting paint can cause spillage.
- 2). Open the paint can.
- 3). Add the tint from the tube. Start with a tablespoon. If you are adding house paint instead of pure tint, you may add more to begin. You will monitor the color change as you proceed.
- 4). Stir the paint well. Using the stir stick, begin slowly, and speed the stirring gradually. This reduces the risk of spillage. Scoop from the bottom occasionally. Using the drill bit, submerge it first. Pull the drill trigger gently. Increase the speed gradually. Move the bit around in the paint. Stir until any streaks of color are blended.
- 5). Examine the paint. Stop if you like the color. Continue if you need more tint.
- 6). Continue adding tint, or paint, mixing and examining the hue until you are satisfied. Use lesser amounts of added tint, or paint, as you get closer to the preferred hue.
