How to Replace a WinXP Product Key
- 1). Visit the Microsoft Product Key Update Tool page (see Resources). Check the "I understand this tool will send the above information to Microsoft" box and click "Download."
- 2). Press the "Run" button once the download is complete.
- 3). Locate the product key for Widows XP. It will be on the software CD case, on the computer unit, or in the confirmation email you received if you ordered your copy online.
- 4). Input the product key when prompted and click "Next" to start the update and replacement process.
- 5). Click "Finish" once the update is complete. At this point the computer will restart and your copy of Windows XP will be ready to use.
