- 1). Enter your 1997 Honda Civic and put your key into the ignition.
- 2). Turn your key over to the "On" position and locate your radio. Search for a button on the radio labeled "Valet". This button is a shiny metallic button situated between the "am/fm" button and the "CD" button. Press the "Valet" button and hold it in. The door locks on your Honda Civic will automatically lock and unlock to confirm programming mode.
- 3). Find your remote and press any of the buttons on the remote, one time. Thereafter, your 1997 Honda Civic will automatically lock and unlock your doors.
- 4). Switch the key in your ignition to the "Off" position to leave programming mode.
