Hickory Grove's Camping Trailer Park
- Located in Sheffield, Illinois, the Hickory Grove Campground hugs the scenic water line of the Hennepin Canal. It's approximately a 2 1/2-hour drive from Chicago.
- The camping season begins at the start of April and extends until the end of October. If your pay for your electricity usage, you can stay all year.
- There are more than 60 sites to set up camp. Many lots border the canal and some are as big as 1/2 acre.
- As of August 2009, the nightly fee for tents is $17, and for RVs the cost is $30. That includes hookups for utilities. If you plan to hunker down for a year, the cost is $700, with an additional fee for electricity use.
- The campground is a quiet area, so the list of prohibited items includes fireworks, ATVs, rifles, vicious dogs and loud music.
