How to Create a Boot Disk for Unix

- 1). Insert your USB drive into a USB port on your computer.
- 2). Download the ISO file version of Linux you wish to use. You can download the latest version of Ubuntu from the downloads section of the Ubuntu website. Download Ubuntu Universal USB Installer. (See Resources for links.)
- 3). Run Ubuntu Universal USB Installer by double-clicking on the downloaded file. This program has the ability to install a wide range of Linux versions onto a portable media disk. Under Step One, select the version of Lynux you wish to install onto your USB disk from the drop-down menu. Universal USB Installer will automatically locate the version you selected from your hard drive files.
- 4). Select your USB drive from the drop-down menu under Step 3. Click Create, and your Universal USB Installer will turn your USB drive into a Linux boot disk.
