How to Install Atheros Wireless Drivers on a Toshiba XP Laptop
- 1). Download the Atheros wireless driver for XP. Visit the website in the Resources section. Click the link "802ABG_Atheros_v5_1_1_9.zip" and choose whether to "Download the file by viewing a series of ads" or "Download this file by signing up for your free account." If you don't download drivers often, choose to view a series of ads. If you download drivers often, create a free account. Both are safe and will not require you to install anything or give out personally identifying information.
Choose "Save As" after choosing one of the above options and save the file to your Toshiba laptop's desktop. - 2). Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Extract All." You will not need decompression software. XP has one built in to the operating system. Choose where you want to extracted files to be stored. The default location works best for most users.
- 3). Double-click the folder with the extracted files and double click the "802ABG_Atheros_v5_1_1_9.exe" file to start the driver installation. Click "Next" and choose where to install the drivers. Use the default location for best results. Click "Next" and wait for the driver to install. Restart your Toshiba laptop once the installation is complete.
