- 1). Click the "Start" button in the lower, left corner of your desktop. Scroll up, right click "Computer" and choose "Properties." Note how much memory is listed under the "System" section.
- 2). Close all of the applications and programs running on your computer.
Click the "Start" button in the bottom, left corner of your desktop. Select "Control Panel." Choose "System and Maintenance." Click "System." - 3). Select "Advanced system settings" in the left column.
- 4). Click the "Advanced" tab and select "Settings. Click the next "Advanced" tab and click the "Change" button.
- 5). Remove the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" check mark. Highlight the hard drive that you want to change. Click "Custom Size." Type in the amount of RAM you noted in Step 1 in megabytes in the "Initial size" field. Triple the amount and put that in the "Maximum size" field.
- 6). Click the "Set" button and click the "OK" button.
