    Disabling Add-ons

    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" menu and select "All Programs." Select "Accessories" and click "System Tools." Click "Internet Explorer (No add-ons)" to disable all add-ons.

    • 2). Click the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer if you want to disable a specific add-on that is causing problems. Click "Manage Add-ons" and select the add-on you want to disable. Click "Disable."

    • 3). Close and restart Internet Explorer.

    Resetting Internet Explorer

    • 1). Launch Internet Explorer and click the "Tools" menu. Click "Internet Options" to launch the browser options dialog box.

    • 2). Click the "Advanced" tab and click "Reset." Click the "Reset" button again. Internet Explorer restores the default settings. When the process completes, click "Close" and click "OK."

    • 3). Close and restart Internet Explorer.

    Running the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool

    • 1). Go to the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool page (see Resources). Click "Download the tool." A new page launches.

    • 2). Click "Download" and click "Run." The Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool downloads to your computer and launches automatically. Follow the guided prompts to remove malicious software.

    • 3). Update Internet Explorer if you are still having problems. To do so, click the "Safety" or "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer and click "Windows Update" to launch the updating wizard. Follow the guided prompts to update Internet Explorer.
