How to Make iTunes Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 32-Bit
- 1). Click "Start," click "Control panel," and choose the "Uninstall a program" option.
- 2). Select "iTunes," click "Remove" and wait for the computer to uninstall any previous version of the iTunes software. Repeat this process for QuickTime and any other Apple software you see in your programs list, including Bonjour and Apple Updates.
- 3). Restart your computer. If you have more than one account, sign in to the administrator account.
- 4). Start an Internet browser other than Internet Explorer, if you have one. An issue with Internet Explorer's temporary file system often causes the invalid application error. If you must use Internet Explorer, update to the latest version or clear your temporary Internet files by clicking "Safety," clicking "Delete Browsing history," and then selecting "Temporary Internet files." Click "Delete," and wait for the process to complete. Close out of Internet Explorer, and then restart it.
- 5). Browse to the iTunes download page. Click the initial download button, but before you click the second download button to start the download, look at the version options above the button. Click next to the 32-bit version to ensure that it is selected, and then download the software.
- 6). Turn off any antivirus software you have on your computer, and then double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation. Click "Yes" or "OK" to any security messages, and choose all of the default installation options except the option to install Safari. You can install this if you want to, but it will not affect compatibility.
- 7). Follow all on-screen instructions to complete the iTunes installation. Turn your security software back on when the process is complete.
