How to Uninstall Win2000 Pro
- 1). Boot up the computer and place the boot floppy in the floppy drive. If requested, select the "Start computer without CD-ROM support " menu item using the "arrow" keys and press "Enter." After the computer has finished booting and the command line prompt is available, type "fdisk" and press "Enter." Press the "Y" key and then "Enter" when a message appears asking if you wish to enable large disk support.
- 2). Press the "4" key and then press "Enter" to display the partitions on the drive. Identify the Windows 2000 Professional partition by the name of the volume label. Note that if the Windows 2000 Professional partition is formatted in NTFS, the partition will be listed as an unknown format.
- 3). Press the "3" key and "Enter" to select the "Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive" option. Select the Windows 2000 Professional partition when the "What drive do you want to delete" message appears. Press "Enter."
- 4). Type the name of the volume label for the Windows 2000 Professional drive when prompted and press "Enter." If there is no volume label, leave the entry blank and press "Enter." Press the "Y" key to confirm that you wish to delete the Windows 2000 Professional partition and press "Enter." Press the "ESC" key three times to exit from "fdisk."
- 5). Type "sys c:" at the command prompt and press "Enter." Reboot the computer. Both the Windows 2000 Professional Master Boot Record (MBR) and the partition have been deleted.
