How to Repair a Screen in XP
- 1). Check your screen resolution. Right-click in a blank area of your Windows XP desktop. Click "Properties" to show the "Display Properties" window, and then select "Settings."
- 2). Adjust the screen resolution. Drag the "Screen Resolution" slider in the dialogue box to the left for lower resolution or to the right for higher resolution. The higher the resolution the more detailed text and images will appear on your monitor. Click "Apply," and Windows will convert your display to the selected resolution. A pop-up dialogue box will ask you if you want to keep the new resolution setting. If you like what you see, click "Yes." If not, click "No" and try a different resolution. Click "OK" when you are satisfied with the display.
- 3). Click the "Troubleshoot" option in the "Display Properties" screen (under "Settings") to correct any problems you are having with your display. Follow the instructions until the problem is resolved.
- 4). Check the buttons on your monitor to fine-tune the brightness, contrast, position and size of the display. Refer to your monitor's manual for detailed instructions.
