How to Restart Explorer in Windows 7

- 1). Hold the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys down, and press "Delete" to open a blue selection screen.
- 2). Click "Start Task Manager" at the bottom of the blue selector screen.
- 3). Click the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager.
- 4). Click "explorer.exe" in the list of "Image Names" on the "Processes" tab, and click "End Process" at the bottom right. Click "End Process" again in the confirmation window. The Windows taskbar, Start menu and any open Windows Explorer windows will disappear.
- 5). Click "File" in the top menu of the Windows Task Manager, and select "New Task (Run...)."
- 6). Type "explorer" in the "Run" window, and press "Enter" to restart Explorer. The Windows taskbar and Start menu will reappear.
