How to Set Up for Photographing Indoors Using Window Light

- 1). Find a large open window and set your subject in front of it utilizing it as a large softbox. With the sun shining through and the natural shade that you get from being indoors, you have a powerful light source at your disposal.
- 2). Get creative and utilize different modifiers to get the look you want to achieve. Large blankets can be used as diffusers, blinds can be used as scrims and colorful decorations can add a ton of different textures and colors to your image.
- 3). Use a large aperture and fast shutter speed to maintain sharp photos and make up for shooting indoors. Watch your depth of field to ensure everything is in focus when doing so.
- 4). Set your subject and walk around your subject noticing how the light falls from different angles. Remember, what you see is what you get, so once you find that perfect angle, take the picture.
